The beginning of a new year is a special time. It’s a time for renewal and a time for growth. The New Year symbolizes a fresh start. Which is why I propose we commit to something deeper: healthy rituals.
A “ritual” is a set of fixed actions performed regularly. This can be a regular exercise routine performed at a specific time. It can also mean eating certain foods at specific times of the day or days of the week.
Creating conscious daily rituals allows us to create healthy habits that benefit us both physically and mentally. The following tips outline healthy habits for a happy life. Whether our goal is to lose weight, have more energy or eat a healthier diet, by committing to these rituals every day, you will establish a routine that will set the tone for the year ahead. But you don’t have to wait, let’s start now!
Weight Loss Rituals
The intention for each of these weight loss rituals is to feel better, renew and empower. Weight loss is something that will be achieved as a result, but the foundation we’re setting is to strengthen our minds and our bodies. This is not a quick fix, Beauties! If the goal is weight loss, it’s important to remember how long it took to accumulate it in the first place.
Weight Loss Ritual #1 – Acknowledging Willpower
Its easy to develop an unhealthy lifestyle. Everywhere we look there are so many processed foods and sugary drinks. It’s no wonder we gain weight. It’s important to think carefully about your daily choices. When we reach for that donut in the office break room, let’s think about how it will make us feel. Sure, it will taste good, but it’s going to make us feel bloated and guilty. Instead, have some fresh blueberries and strawberries or an apple with almond butter. You will feel proud of yourself for resisting a temptation and making a healthy choice.
Weight Loss Ritual #2 – Hot Water with Lemon
This is a great way to begin the day or to warm you up at any time throughout the afternoon and evening. Lemons are packed with vitamins and antioxidants, and they’re natural cleansers too! These flavorful beauties will boost our immunity while detoxifying our digestive tract. Hot water also aids in digestion, so this combination is a great way to prevent bloating. All of these symbolize renewal and balance. My client lived to 103 and she adhered to this ritual for most of her adult life!
Citrus fruits like lemons are high in vitamin C, a primary antioxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radicals. You’ve probably heard that vitamin C may help prevent or limit the duration of the common cold
Weight Loss Ritual #3- Plenty of fresh fruit
Fruits are an excellent source of essential vitamins and minerals, and they are high in fiber. Fruits also provide a wide range of health boosting antioxidants, including flavonoids. You can find bioflavonoids in the pulp and white core that runs through the center of citrus fruits, green peppers, lemons, limes, oranges, cherries, and grapes.
Eating a diet high in fruits can reduce a person’s risk of developing heart disease, cancer, inflammation, and diabetes.
